Dog Mom. Athlete. Whitewater Enthusiast. Mountain Biker.
Aspiring Tennis Player. Casual Golfer. Yogi. Dance Fiend.
I’ve always loved to move. I grew up playing lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, softball, and swimming. I competed as a two sport DIII athlete, playing field hockey and lacrosse at the collegiate level. I have coached both sports at the high school level. Sports still get my adrenaline pumping and psych me up, and I love encouraging and coaching people to grow in sport. Today I participate more in lifestyle sports, including golf, tennis, and finding creative ways to recreate every day of the week. I work-out to build and maintain my fitness for these activities. And because it makes me feel good.
Exercise has provided me stress relief and escape since I was a kid. When I work-out regularly I feel stronger, happier, and more in control of my life. Now, when I have a day off, I try to achieve the “trifecta,” a term my friends and I use to describe a three sport day (example: to mountain bike, kayak, ski all in one day - yes this is possible in Boise!). And yes, I do count walking the dogs as a sport - I’m a mom to an energetic german wirehair pointer after all - talk about someone who loves to move!
However, the activities I’ve immersed myself in over the course of my life have taken a toll on my body. I’ve had knee, hip, and shoulder surgery, a relentless bulging disc, turf toe, IT band issues, pulled quads, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, popped bursas, contusions, sprained ankles, sprained wrists… the list goes on.
These injuries aren’t something I’m proud of, but they have shaped my fitness experience and helped me become smarter in my approach to training, stretching, activity, recovery, and living the life I want to. In fact, the number one reason I chose to become a certified personal trainer was to better educate myself on how to work out smarter, and how to protect, maintain, and enhance my fitness for the activities that drive me.
Another reason I choose to become a certified personal trainer is because, in my opinion, the only thing better than achieving your own goals is to be a part in a friend reaching theirs. The joy of assisting a teammate in scoring that perfect goal, the smile on someone’s face when you help them learn to roll a kayak, that laugh out loud happy moment when drinks are on you because your friend got a birdie on that tricky par 4 - I love those moments.
My mission is to design workouts for you that allow you to
LIVE THE LIFE YOU LOVE
over the short and long term.
Whether that’s being able to pick the kids up without back pain, hit the trails, get out on the links with friends, or feel confident in your swimwear - I want to help you live your best life!
The hardest part about your workout shouldn't be getting to it. That's why I offer MOBILE training. I know that your time is valuable. Mobile training removes the barrier of getting to the gym and allows you more time for the important parts of life, including your workout.
In our first session, we'll discuss your fitness and health goals, what motivates you, and assess your fitness. From there, I'll make it easy for you by creating a plan designed to achieve your goals. I will coach you each step of the way and check-in regularly to ensure that you are getting what you need to reach your fitness goals.
Outside of training and stretch coaching, I work full time and understand that life demands a lot. Making time to work out is important, but for many of us it’s simply not our first priority, especially when it feels like a chore. I get that and can work with you to create a plan that prioritizes working out in a timeframe that makes sense for your lifestyle.
My first focus is on motivation and accessibility. Workouts can and should be designed in a way that works for your personality and that you actually enjoy doing. I'll help keep you motivated and hold you accountable to yourself.
I offer mobile and onsite training because I’m a firm believer that you don’t need to go to the gym to get fit; that’s an idea that simply serves as a barrier for most of us. I know that you can get in a solid workout with only the space in front of your couch. I also offer training and Rossiter Stretching at my studio located in the North End of Boise. My space offers you the opportunity to get in a serious workout guided by a professional outside of a traditional gym setting - and during COVID it may limit your exposure as well.
Once I know what gets you going, we’ll focus on form. You should be intentional in your movement, focus on activating the right muscles, and learn to overcome any overreliances and/or compensations. A lot of the time that means slowing down, learning the proper technique for an exercise, and me reminding you to maintain form as you advance.
Depending on your fitness goals, form focused exercises may provide all the work you need. If your goals are focused on increased strength, agility, power and endurance, then we’ll build on proper form to get you moving at the speed you desire and we’ll do it under a plan that pushes you, while protecting you from overtraining.
As an ACE certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach, NASM Stretching & Flexibility coach, Rossiter Stretch Coach, two sport college athlete, and health enthusiast I am here to support you in your fitness and health goals.
You can achieve your fitness goals. Let me help guide you on that journey.
